INITIAL ASSESSMENT £40
Medical history - many medical conditions and medications can affect your feet and gathering a thorough medical history allows us to develop a safe and appropriate tailored treatment plan.
Basic neurovascular checks - giving an overview of circulation and feeling in your feet.
Assessment of Podiatric need - identifying foot conditions, discussing your concerns and aims, and developing a treatment plan and advice tailored to your needs.
Routine treatment - reduction of nails, corns and callous. Application of moisturiser.
This is mandatory before any other appointment as a thorough examination is vital to ensure patient safety.
ROUTINE TREATMENT £35
Reduction of nails, clearing the edges of nails and removing any ingrown edges or spikes. Ennucleation (removal) of corns and removal of hard skin with skilled bladework.
Application of appropriate moisturiser.
Advice on footcare and footwear to improve foot health.
NAIL SURGERY from £ 200
Surgical removal of all or part of the nail to resolve painful ingrown nails. This procedure is done under local anaesthetic (numbing of the toe) and phenol is used to prevent the problematic nail from regrowing.
DIABETIC ASSESSMENT £70, includes ROUTINE TREATMENT
Full assessment including vascular assessment (palpation and doppler audification of pulses, capillary refill, claudication identification, temperature, visual inspection for signs of vascular deficit), and neurological assessment (neurothesiometer, monofilament, neurotip, discussion of signs and symptoms), assessment of feet and footwear and discussion of risk factors for foot complications. Advice on how best to manage feet to keep them as healthy as possible. A risk category will be assigned in line with current NHS guidelines and a copy of results sent on to GP if desired. Current guidance is that this should be carried out annually on diabetic patients.
VASCULAR ASSESSMENT £45
Using a Doppler to audify your pulse and a blood pressure cuff to obtain pressures in arms and legs, the Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) can be calculated - this is the recommended test to identify peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Also assessed is capillary refill, claudication identification, temperature and a visual inspection for signs of vascular deficit. Results will be fully recorded, discussed and explained and appropriate advice given. If desired a report will be sent to your GP.
NEUROLOGICAL ASSESSMENT £30 (£20 if added to vascular assessment)
Using a neurothesiometer the vibration sensation can be quantified, this is the earliest indicator of sensory deficit. Monofilaments are used to check light touch sensation and neurotips to check sharp/blunt sensation. Visual inspection and discussion of signs and symptoms will complete the examination. Results will be fully recorded, discussed and explained and appropriate advice given. If desired a report will be sent to your GP.
